Composition and Choreography Lab
February - May 2021
This workshop is aimed at those who want to delve into the dance composition and the art of choreography. The workshop contains 3 parts.
The first part concerns the acquaintance with various compositional ideas concerning the body, the shape, the time, the space, the image, the music / sound, the look, the objects and the contact. References will be made to choreographers and improvisers who used the those ideas and we will proceed to the practical application of some of them ideas. The goal is to cover a wide range of ideas, so that everyone can find the set / principles that currently interest them.
The second part is about guiding participants in exploring a personal creation path. We will map the path to creation, the obstacles, the challenges, and concepts such as Principles, Material, Habits, Research, Risk, Theme, Financial Constraints, Funding Applications, Collaborations, Audience, Authenticity, Content etc.
The framework for creation will include feedback, collective thinking and support, creating a supportive artistic micro-society.
The third part includes individual meetings with each participant, where we will discuss issues and ways out.
